UPDATE: Mike Hosinski has been arrested and faces a level 6 felony charge.
I’m told level 6 felonies are often pleaded down in Indiana.
Mike Hosinski slapped a student so hard, his head hit the wall behind him.
Some parents and students have stuck up for the Hosinski because of his record as a great teacher.
Hosinski was Jimtown Teacher of the Year in 2020.
The school board voted to let him retire early on the evening of February 28, 2022 so he could keep his benefits instead of firing him.
Students staged a walkout in support of Mike Hosinski and parents started groups so show their support for him as well. Some in those groups alleged the student hit himself before the video came out.
Hosinski’s record as a teacher is good and he’s well-liked.
The student allegedly has serious disciplinary issues.
Local media has used Hosinski’s political leanings to attack him from that angle and make it a part of the story.
Hour 3 of my show on February 28, 2022 was all about this story and taking calls from the audience. You do get a visceral reaction from me after I saw the video for the first time that I dialed back later. Just a heads up.
