It‘s been both amusing and frustrating watching the left pretend they’ve only started using this rhetoric recently because Trump is just so horrible. The fact is, the political right already knew what liberals were going to say regardless of who got the GOP nomination. Every … single … major election … it’s the same thing. The Republican is aracist, sexist, homophobe who cheats on their taxes and has some sexual impropriety. They will always be called a Nazi and fascist along with all of their supporters. Literally, every time.
When the right says the left’s constant vitriolic rhetoric is why Trump was elected, this is what we mean. We wanted someone who would finally fight back against these frivolous accusations. As a result of Trump fighting back, they’ve lost their collective minds because they’ve never had to deal with a fighter before.
Before Donald Trump The Left Accused Conservatives of Being “racist,” “homophobe,” “sexist,” “mean-spirited,” “insensitive” and much more
The above two links only go back to 2001 through 2017, but FDR was retroactively insinuating that Calvin Coolidge was a Nazi in 1944, and Walter Cronkite was doing the same to Barry Goldwater 20 years later. A lie repeated for a three-quarters of a century by the side of the aisle that controls the culture just might gain a bit of traction eventually…
Antifa is what they claim to oppose. They are violent, fascist bigots.
Both marines testified that Keenan, Massey, and approximately ten other people — men and women, some masked and some unmasked — then began attacking them with mace, punches, and kicks, and calling them “nazis” and “white supremacists.”
On the stand, Godinez said that he was “bewildered” by being called a white supremacist and immediately cried out, “I’m Mexican!” After that, as the attack continued, both men said that members of the group, including Keenan, repeatedly used ethnic slurs, including “spic” and “wetback,” against the marines. (There was no testimony that Massey used any such language).
Of course, media coverage of this is scant at best. John Sexton nails this point.
Why isn’t this story big news? So far as I can tell, CNN hasn’t devoted a single word to this story about actual violence by Antifa members since it happened nearly a month ago. I guess Don Lemon and Brooke Baldwin were too busy with other things. Domestic political violence was all-the-rage last month, now it’s just old hat.
To be clear, I don’t blame CNN for violence by Antifa goons, but I do think CNN’s hosts ought to be accountable for defending those goons long after it should have been clear they were violent bullies.
