For years I’ve pointed out the research showing media sensationalism of violence leads to more violence, and specifically, their coverage of school/mass shootings leads to more of those incidents.
The research is undeniable, spans all stated ideologies, is from prestigious researchers, and has long-standing reduplicated results.
The media doesn’t want you to know this fact. They actively hide it and attack those who expose it by pretending to be ‘offended’ at such a gruesome claim. Fact is, newsrooms are energized by these tragedies. They exploit them, promote them, squeeze every last second of coverage out of them, and use the resulting traffic they get to sell more ads.
Tragedy sells. Yes, there are those with ideological interests in covering these stories a certain way, but at the end of the day, this is a business that needs money to survive.
Stelter talking about concern for a ‘pattern of behavior’ is ironic considering his, and CNN’s, pattern of behavior in spreading fake news, withholding pertinent facts in stories, and flat-out fabricating things out of thin air.
And it does have people talking, not just English teachers, but a lot of people are talking about why the misspelling or sloppiness matters. He’s misspelled council, and weather, Marine Corps, unprecedented — lots of different words.
In an interview, Duncan said a provocative approach is needed if gun laws are ever going to change.
Former Education Secretary Arne Duncan pushed a radical idea on Twitter: Parents should pull their children out of school until elected officials pass stricter gun control laws.
This is brilliant, and tragically necessary. What if no children went to school until gun laws changed to keep them safe? My family is all in if we can do this at scale. Parents, will you please join us? https://t.co/Yo4wsFuJI5
Not only is it not ‘brilliant’ it’s illegal to do this as he suggested. Let’s not forget liberal Democrats have fought against homeschooling and school choice for decades. As a result, the laws in many states wouldn’t legally allow for a mass school withdrawal like he’s calling for. Ironically, because of the same liberals advocating for this radical new idea.
How about parents boycott until appropriate school safety measures are implemented instead of just ignoring the threat assessments done on their facilities like what happened at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School?
Then there’s the fact that the weapons used in the Texas shooting are always ignored in any liberal anti-gun proposal because they aren’t the dreaded AR-15. If fact, anti-gun advocates always say they want to leave shotguns and revolvers alone. Nevermind that shotguns were used in more homicides than all rifles combined annually until 2016.
This is just another dumb attention seeking idea from intellectually deficient radicals.
Broward school officials continue to obstruct the investigation into the Parkland massacre. After discovering that Superintendent Robert Runcie has been lying to the public, the local media isn’t holding back anymore.
