Originally from Carmel, Indiana, Rob graduated from the Indiana University Ernie Pyle School of Journalism. He quickly gained recognition for uncovering major news stories and most recently anchored “Fox & Friends First.”

Starting in local news, Schmitt advanced to roles at ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox News Channel, covering significant events like the California wildfires and hurricanes Harvey, Gustav, and Hanna.
