On Jan 13, New York State senator Gregory Ball announced that a burglary had been reported which appears to be a direct result of the Journal News‘ gun-owner-name-dump.
“The Journal News has placed the lives of these folks at risk by creating a virtual shopping list for criminals and nut jobs. If the connection is proven, this is further proof that these maps are not only an invasion of privacy but that they present a clear and present danger to law-abiding, private citizens. er convicts have already testified to the usefulness of the asinine Journal News ‘gun maps’ yet the reckless editors are evidently willing to roll the dice, gambling with the lives of innocent local homeowners,” said Senator Greg Ball.
Tomorrow, Senator Ball will be publicly unveiling three separate pieces of legislation, all with bipartisan support, among them (S2132), to protect the privacy rights of ordinary citizens; including: law enforcement personnel, victims of domestic violence and private citizens. Let it be clear however, that under Ball’s legislation that has garnered bipartisan kudos and support, law enforcement and all related agencies would continue to have full access to permit ination. Senate bill (S2132) would protect lawful gun owners, including thousands of retired and active law enforcement and victim of domestic violence survivors, from having their ination publicly disclosed.

When the idea of having sex offenders publicly register came about (Megan’s Law), for a number of reasons, the media engaged in a mature debate over whether or not notifying residents of a convicted sex offender living in their area was a good idea. And while I’m in favor of the law, I would also argue that this was a perfectly legitimate and necessary debate to have.
But nowhere are we seeing the elite media doing anything other than to ignore the Journal News treating law-abiding gun owners as though they’re sex offenders. The media simply wants to pretend it didn’t happen and that there’s been no fallout. And it’s not just about the media protecting its own, either.

A Fort Wayne doctor is under fire after patients died while in his care. The state attorney general is trying to get an emergency suspension of Dr. William Hedrick’s medical license. That hearing is set for Friday afternoon.

Atlantic City Mayor Lorenzo Langford (D) has fallen under scrutiny from Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) for informing residents of Atlantic City that they could stick around during Hurricane Sandy. Christie ranted:

A New York University class on transnational terrorism is requiring students to “hypothetically plan a terrorist attack” — and shocked cops say the outrageous lesson plan is an insult to the officers killed on Sept. 11.

During a campaign speech in Definance, Ohio, last Thursday, Romney did misstate Jeep’s plans, claiming Chrysler was considering moving “all” Jeep production to China:

Romney was apparently responding to a confusing statement by Mike Manley, president and CEO of the Jeep brand early last week:
Fiat SpA (F), majority owner of Chrysler Group LLC, plans to return Jeep output to China and may eventually make all of its models in that country, according to the head of both automakers’ operations in the region.
Let’s set the record straight: Jeep has no intention of shifting production of its Jeep models out of North America to China. It’s simply reviewing the opportunities to return Jeep output to China for the world’s largest auto market. U.S. Jeep assembly lines will continue to stay in operation. A careful and unbiased reading of the Bloomberg take would have saved unnecessary fantasies and extravagant comments.
oming hot on the heels of speculation that some Jeep production may be moved to China comes a bombshell from a Bloomberg report. Fiat is now considering moving Chrysler and Jeep production to Italy.
According to the piece, “To counter the severe slump in European sales, (Fiat CEO Sergio) Marchionne is considering building Chrysler models in Italy, including Jeeps, for export to North America. The Italian government is evaluating tax rebates on export goods to help Fiat. Marchionne may announce details of his plan as soon as Oct. 30, the people said.”
So, let’s be real clear here, we are talking about vehicles that will be built in Italy and exported to America. The evidence is clear that Fiat is looking at ways to move production of vehicles from the US to elsewhere, whether it be China or Italy, costing American jobs. This is becoming indisputable, despite outcries from certain parties to the contrary.

The US death toll climbed to 39, many of the victims killed by falling trees, and rescue work continued.

“Indiana has had a more extreme trend relative the national average in terms of becoming more top heavy,” says the report’s author, Ben Scafidi, a professor of economics at Georgia College. “Administrators increased at five times the rate of students and three times the rate of teachers.”
Disney (DIS) is buying Lucasfilm for $4 billion, adding the legendary Star Wars
franchise to the entertainment giant’s stable of characters. Lucasfilm is 100% owned by Founder George Lucas.
