Indiana lawmakers consider school prayer measure – 95.3 MNC
Indiana public school students could pray aloud in a public forum under a measure lawmakers are considering.
Is more school prayer answer to social ills?
According to the American Civil Liberties Union, students in public schools already have the right to pray individually or in groups and express their religious beliefs in their homework and artwork, where those beliefs relate to their assignment. They can read religious literature during student activities and form religious clubs. They can also wear T-shirts with religious messages.
House Bill 1024 – Prayer in schools – Indiana General Assembly, 2017 Session
Provides that public school students may pray or engage in religious activities or religious expression before, during, and after the school day in the same manner and to the same extent that students may engage in nonreligious activities or expression.
