The Indiana RFRA (Religious Freedom & Restoration Act) was just signed into law by Gov. Pence, and passed with bipartisan support in the legislature. It is falsely labeled as a discrimination legalization bill.
The RFRA is in line with the federal RFRA authored by Sen. Schumer (D-NY), passed with broad bipartisan support, and signed by President Clinton. It does NOT legalize discrimination of any kind. It simply allows any business owner to opt out of a single event that reasonably interferes with their religious liberty. And you have to be able to prove that in a court.
The RFRA does not allow a business to deny service to any demographic. Nor does it deny medical services to any demographic. It does not rewrite anti-discrimination law in any way, shape, form, or idea … period … end of story.
I’ve proven this over and over again, but amoebas like this caller James just refuse to put forth the energy to even read the legislation … all 4 pages of it.
The hypocrisy is palpable in this story, and rarely has there been a more lied about and distorted narrative put forth about a piece of legislation.
I’m continually amazed that someone has the energy to write about, or call a radio show about, a topic they themselves are too lazy to take 3 minutes to read.
